What “KF94” actually means

KF stands for Korea Filter. KF80, KF94 and KF99 are grades given to health masks approved by Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS); KF94 masks are tested to filter at least 94% of fine test particles. In Korea they are regulated as quasi-drugs, so a genuine box shows the words “의약외품” (quasi-drug) and the KF grade on the packaging. A higher number blocks more but can feel harder to breathe through — KF94 is the everyday choice most Koreans use on bad-air days.

KF94 mask boxes and prices

Box What’s inside Price (USD)
Traveler Box 100 × KF94 masks, adult large, white (2D fold-flat or “bird-beak” shape, depending on stock) from $19
Group Box 200 × KF94 masks (2 boxes) — for families, tour groups or taking some home from $29

Anything else from Korean online stores: item price + 40% + $5. Kids’ sizes, black masks, individually wrapped packs or hand sanitizer (also a quasi-drug) can be quoted on WhatsApp.

Prices include the masks, our service and delivery to your Seoul hotel. Online prices move daily; we confirm the USD total before you pay. If a box is sold out we suggest an equivalent KF94 product first and order only with your consent.

When do you need masks in Seoul?

  • December to March. Korea’s government runs a “fine dust seasonal management” program every year from 1 December to 31 March, because fine-dust concentrations are typically higher in winter and early spring.
  • Spring yellow dust (hwangsa). Dust blowing in from the continent can turn the sky hazy on spring days.
  • Check before you go out. Korean weather apps and the government’s AirKorea service rate air quality as Good, Moderate, Bad or Very Bad. On “Bad” days you’ll see many locals in masks on the subway.
  • Sensitive travelers. If you have asthma, are travelling with small children or older parents, or will hike Bukhansan on a hazy day, having a box at the hotel takes one worry away.

Masks need no electricity, but if you’re also charging an air purifier or phone, Korea uses 220V with Type C/F round-pin plugs. For a full list of what to bring for each month, try our Korea packing list generator, and read things to know before visiting Korea.

Mask tips that actually help

  • Press the nose wire firmly; gaps at the nose are where unfiltered air gets in.
  • KF masks are single-use — swap for a fresh one each day rather than washing.
  • Fold-flat 2D masks pack well in a day bag; bird-beak shapes leave more breathing room.
  • After a dusty day, washing your face and hands when you get back is standard local advice.

How to order in 3 steps

  1. WhatsApp us with the box you want, your hotel name, the name on the booking and your check-in date.
  2. Pay 100% upfront by card payment link or PayPal in USD — by 10 PM KST for next-day arrival.
  3. Pick up at the front desk the next day under your check-in name. Airbnb guests: send the address and we’ll coordinate with your host.

Some hotels refuse parcels that arrive before the guest checks in, so we always check your check-in date before ordering. See all items we can bring on our Korea hotel delivery page — dry winter air also pairs well with our Korean skincare delivery.

FAQ

Are your KF94 masks real certified masks?

We order KF94 products sold on Korean online stores whose packaging carries the quasi-drug (의약외품) label and KF94 grade. We’ll tell you the brand before you pay.

Can I buy masks at a convenience store instead?

Yes — Korean convenience stores and pharmacies sell KF94 masks, usually in small packs. Our box makes sense when you want 100+ for a group or the whole trip.

Can you deliver today?

No. Orders paid by 10 PM KST arrive the next day. The only same-day item we deliver is a suitcase.

Do you sell medicine for coughs or allergies?

No. We don’t buy any medicines, including over-the-counter ones. Masks, bandages and hand sanitizer (quasi-drugs) are fine.

Can I take a mask box home?

Masks are light and generally fine in checked or hand luggage; a 100-mask box is bulky, so pack it in the checked bag.

Is Unboxing Korea part of Coupang?

No. We are an independent service that orders for you from Korean online stores such as Coupang; we’re not affiliated with any store.
